"Discouragement" Reject It!

Are You Washed In The Blood
Ezra Bufford

Do not allow discouragement to become a part of your life! It's aimed at disarming you in your stand for receiving your healing or whatever else you're believing God for.

At times, we can become weary in our walk of faith, especially if we've been going through a tough physical battle. We can become drained emotionally as our senses scream out day after day because of the hard cold facts of sickness and disease.

We may have started out with a strong attitude and conviction of faith, but we can begin to falter if we're not careful. After all, though we cannot see it, we need to remember that there is a spiritual battle raging all around us. If we're not careful we can lose sight of this fact, which is very dangerous, as we begin to think the thoughts of failure and doom are ours alone.

As I often state, the devil is after your faith, because he knows how powerful it can be. And his battle tactics are an attempt to convince you that healing and health are not for you. He is hoping that you will become discouraged and weary in the fight and begin to lose hope and lay down your shield of faith.

When this happens, the first thing most people do is get out of the Word, and generally they just stop reading all together. The next thing is they get out of fellowship with the Lord, they get so caught up with their circumstances (serpent-stances), and they quit spending time in the Master's presence. When these things happen, their supply of divine life is cut off, and it will not be long before they will come to the end of themselves. Drained and feeling lifeless and at the end of their rope.

Much like a battery, we need to be charged with the divine flow of His life supply. We need to continue to get plugged in to the Master source and continue to be recharged, becoming full of His divine life power. Only then are we equipped with the "energy" that it takes to continue the fight on into victory.

Let's take a look at the word "discourage." Webster's dictionary says it means to deprive one of courage, hope or confidence. It also means to prevent or try to prevent by disapproving or raising objections or obstacles. Does this sound familiar? Have there been some obstacles arise in your life since you began your stand of faith in God's Word for your healing?

Know this: Spiritual battles can only be fought with spiritual weapons. Let's look at 2 Corinthians 10:3-5: "For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

I love the last part of that verse. A few years back the Lord gave me a picture of a border guard looking out for illegal aliens who would want to enter the country. When he sees something that doesn't look right he yells out in a commanding, authoritative voice, "Halt, who goes there! You don't belong here," and he takes them into custody, not allowing them to enter.

On the same line, we need to be careful what thoughts we let in to our minds, which thoughts we are meditating on and pondering. Only those that line up with the Word should be allowed in.

This is why we need to take time each day to get into the Word of God and spend time in the presence of God through personal praise and worship, these are powerful weapons indeed! They keep us mindful of the inheritance that belongs to us and His love that assures us of His willingness to get them to us.

In fact, in Ephesians 6:17 it calls the Word of God the sword of the Spirit. Actually, in the Greek language here, the text is talking about the Word of God that is being spoken. In Matthew chapter 4 we see Jesus using the spoken Word of God when the devil was tempting Him in the wilderness. Jesus did not answer him on His own, instead He spoke the Word, the established eternal truth of God, to refute the devil. Now listen my brother and sister, if Jesus lived that way when He was on the earth, then we must do it also. After all, He is our example of divine victory.

Just how powerful is the Word of God in a believer's life? Let's read 1 Thessalonians 2:13: "For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe."

That phrase toward the end of the verse, "effectively works," is one of the four words for "power" in the Greek language. It is the word energeo. It's where we get our word energy from. It's a word that speaks of working power and effectual results. That's what the Word will do for you - it will work effectively and bring forth the desired results.

This is why the enemy wants you to put down the healing scriptures and stop reading the Word all together. This is why he wants to discourage you, so that you will stop your times of devotions and fellowship with the Lord.

He wants to disarm you, so that through your mind he can begin to bring discouragement and get you isolated off by yourself so that you will become defeated, drowning in a pool of self pity. He's wants to erect a belief structure within you that the Word in anemic, void of power and that it does not work for you.

Listen, God's Word that is believed, received and acted upon WILL bring about the results that are in the Word. As you apply it, you need to know that it's just a matter of time before your symptoms will begin to give way. They have to!!! And Almighty God established a blood covenant, and put His Word and very life on the line to back it up.

With that in mind, let's read Isaiah 55:11: "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Right there is a good place to say amen! And that is a great promise for you to commit to memory.

Now get back up, dust yourself off and boldly begin to declare the promises of the Word over your life. Shout it out, "Sickness and disease get out of my life! Healing belongs to me, I am the redeemed and I say so! No weapon formed against me can or will prosper. I am a blood bought child of God and by His stripes I am and I was healed. It belongs to me and I receive it by faith. Therefore I call myself healed, it's mine now. I receive it, I believe it and I will act upon it!"

Let this sink in real deep: God has no favorite children. He treats us all the same. The truth of the matter is, we are all His favorites. We all have to live the life of faith the same way. Whether you're a pastor or a farmer, a business executive or if you drive a truck, or if you have no job at all, it does not matter. God's Word will work if it is believed, received and acted upon. Ephesians 6:9 tells us there is no partiality with Him. Thank God! That tells me what He does for one He will do for the other. We all qualify if we are born-again, because we are in Christ Jesus.

As it says in Hebrews 12:12-13: "Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed."

So get back up on your faith. Get back into the fight and get back into the Word of God today. Don't give up on what belongs to you. Develop an I will not be denied attitude and get your healing scriptures out and begin to lay claim once again to your inheritance that was granted to you by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Tell that devil to get out of your life and you just lift your hands up to the Lord and get back into praise and worship, making melody in your heart unto the Lord. After all, praise looks good on you! And get back into fellowship with your local body of believer's where they can agree with you in prayer and support you. Please understand that your heavenly Father is not mad at you, He only wants the best for you. He's waiting with open arms to take you on into victory. So what are you waiting for? Take it now, the victory is yours!
