"No Not One"

Many people are searching for the truth about health and healing. Some are searching in strange places, consulting witches and other occultists, while some are looking only to the medical profession. Those who look to occultists are really going to the devil for help, and many times find it. The danger here is that the devil can get their soul forever.

The parents of a very sick girl had taken her to many doctors to no avail. The girl had grown worse and had only a few months to live. Being told about a faith-healer who was in town, they decided to take the child to him. He prayed over the girl and gave her a medallion to wear around her neck. He told the parents that the girl would be well as long as she wore the medallion. Sure enough, the girl was well! Everyone was delighted and gave the glory to God. The family started reading the Word and attending church regularly. The whole family received Jesus as their Savior and were born-again. They saw in the Bible that God’s method of healing had nothing to do with medallions. Consulting with their pastor, they agreed that together they would remove the medallion. Having done so, they broke it open. Inside was the inscription, “Satan, keep this girl well till you have her soul in hell.” Her health was a small price for him to pay for her soul! Throwing the medallion away, they asked the Lord to forgive them for searching, in ignorance, for health in the wrong way. They asked the Lord to heal their daughter, and Jesus did!

Many people suffer from arthritis. They wear copper or magnetic bracelets looking to an unknown power for healing. There are other occultic things people do searching for healing. It is really amazing. They argue that it is good, that it helps them; therefore, it must be from God; if it heals, it must be the power of God. Remember that everything God does will be based on His Word. If it disagrees with the Bible, it is not from God.

Most of us at one time or another have gone to doctors for help and they have helped us. We can praise the Lord for doctors and nurses, but the Lord has prepared a way for us to grow up spiritually, reaching a place where we don’t need their services. Every Christian can live in complete and perfect Divine health, never to be sick again, never to have fever again. You may not believe this is true. It is my prayer that in this book you will see, by the Word of God, that it is true, and that it can be yours if you will believe. The Word is truth and is our only foundation in life.. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 3:11)

Of course, we have to do our part. We cannot eat "junk food", sleep too little, or have no exercise, and expect that God shall keep us healthy. We have responsibility for our body and soul, to keep them in order. Our body is supposed to be a temple of the Holy Spirit!

My family and I live in Divine health. We prove the Word of God daily in our lives. My wife and I have three children. Since 1971 all of us have lived in Divine health. This is not a result of our goodness or some special privilege, nor positive thinking or confession. It is the grace of God revealed to all His children in the Word. In our home we have no fever thermometer. We see in the Word that believers are not supposed to have fever. Fever is one of the curses. “However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all His commandments and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you... The Lord will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish.” (Deuteronomy 28: 15, 22)

We do not live under this curse, but under the covenant, under grace. When fever comes, it is the devil lying to us. We have to rebuke him in the name of Jesus. “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) If you believe, not doubt, he will leave you and his works will leave with him.

People have a habit of judging everything from their own point of view, with their own experience. When we hear that it is God’s will for his children to live in Divine health, we immediately think of some people who live a holy and godly life but are still very sick. We look at the experience, not the Word of God. We want to add our own experience to the Word of God. We say that God really used them in the hospital or during the illness so it must have been His will that they be sick. We forget Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

God can bring good out of all circumstances if we allow Him to, but that does not mean it was His will that we be in those circumstances in the first place.

Let’s look at God’s plan through the ages. It has been almost 2,000 years since Jesus lived, gave His life for us, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven. This marked the beginning of the time of grace, but there is also an end to that time. We are now living in the last days of this grace period. The Word gives many proofs of this. Take, for example, the nation of Israel. They lost their land in 70 AD, but they got it back and became a nation again in 1948. This was clearly prophesied in the Bible, and we have seen it in our generation. During these last days, God is not only restoring His nation of Israel, but also His body, the Church. You see, the Bible teaches us that the nation of Israel is a pattern for the Church.

“For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, it is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned. In other words, it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.” (Romans 9:6b - 8)

Everything that happened to the Jewish people is written as an example for us. See I Corinthians 10: 6, 11.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up: do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43: 18, 19)

Something new is happening among Christians all over the world. In some places it is called the Charismatic Movement. But like most movements, if we are not careful and do not stay grounded in the Word, we will get into error.

I have had the privilege of teaching in Europe and the United States to different denominations, Protestant and Catholic. I have seen the same thing everywhere. God is restoring unity and power to His Church. We have fellowship regardless of denomination. We love each other when we have the same Jesus. We realize that we all belong to His Body, the Church (if we are "born again"). As little as fifteen or twenty years ago this would have been impossible, but today it is a reality. We are becoming one in Christ.

The people of the world have seen the division among Christians even clearer than we ourselves. They think that all we do is fight one another. Many don’t want to become Christians for that reason. Our division and fighting have sent many people to hell. We need not be condemned; God will forgive us. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9)

Now we need to turn our attention on what God is doing in His Church today. One thing is the restoration of healing.

In Malachi 4:1, we read what God will do to the ungodly: “Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire, says the Lord Almighty. Not a root or branch will be left to them...”

Verse two of Malachi 4 is for those who love and obey the Lord.

“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall...”

This Scripture is referring to the healing and deliverance ministry which the Lord is restoring to His Church today. Although it has always been available to the believer, the church has not taught or practiced it for over 1900 years. Today, almost every Christian knows about these things even if he doesn’t know how or why they work.

When I started teaching deliverance from evil spirits in 1973 in Sweden, many people thought I was teaching error. Those who believed were delivered. As they testified about their experience, others could see the reality and accepted the Word. Today, many are ministering deliverance to the Body. Some people do not believe that Christians can be oppressed by evil spirits (demons). If any of these people are oppressed they won’t admit it and ask for deliverance. Nothing short of a miracle can help them.

Through the years, we have been taught in the church that sickness is inevitable and that we must learn to live with it. Some ministers even say it must be God’s will for us to be sick because they have prayed and people have not recovered. This is basing doctrine on experience not on the Word of God.

The Word of God is truth. Why do we call ourselves believers if we do not believe the Word? That is hypocrisy. If we believe the Word, then we must act on it, not just talk about it. This is not always easy. But we have to believe it in our hearts and reprogram our minds to act in accordance with the Word. When the Word does not agree with our experience, we cannot just explain it away and judge according to the circumstances. The Word of God is truth!

In Malachi 4:3, we read: “Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things, says the Lord Almighty.”

This talks of the restored authority of the believer in the restored Church or Body of Christ. This is obviously not talking about heaven since the wicked will not be there. It is talking about God’s people on earth who have healing, freedom, and authority available to them.

Statistics show that in the average congregation, about eighty percent of the people are sick, mentally or physically. This should not be so. The Lord has commanded us to go into all the world and preach the gospel, baptizing them and teaching them to obey His Word. We cannot do this if we are sick, and not doing this is disobedience to God.

In Hosea 4:6 we read: “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” The Lord tells us here why we are destroyed. It is because of lack of knowledge. What knowledge? Human knowledge is abundant. The Bible is talking about spiritual knowledge. We can see this in Hosea 4:1b “There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.”

How does the knowledge of God give us health? The following story will explain how knowledge can change circumstances.

An elderly lady lived alone in her home in the country. She had no financial assistance, not even social security. She was indeed very poor. One day a friend visited her and seeing her plight, asked if her son didn’t ever send her any money.
The lady told her friend that she often received letters from him and that he always included a small piece of paper that looked like bookmarks, but never any money. The friend asked to see one. It was a thousand dollar check. “With these checks,” the friend exclaimed, “you are a wealthy woman.”
“Checks? What are checks?” the lady asked.

As you can see, we can live in poverty even though we are rich. All of God’s people have signed checks for health, freedom, joy, peace, and much, much more. But we need knowledge about how to cash these checks.

“Grace and peace be yours in abundance THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness THROUGH OUR KNOWLEDGE OF HIM who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption of the world caused by evil desires.” (II Peter 1: 2-4)

The knowledge we are talking about is the knowledge of God, not human knowledge. Most people are so highly educated today that they are blind to this Truth. Human knowledge is good, but it can keep us from having childlike faith in the Word of God.

Everyone who has any knowledge of God at all would agree that indeed He can heal. He has all power in heaven and on earth.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.’” (Matthew 28: 18-20)

Here we see that He not only has the authority but has delegated this authority to us. We have it and should be exercising it to overcome the power of the enemy.
