We
need to come to the place where we actually believe that He is the healer
and that He has already provided healing for us upon the cross. It's done.
We then reach out by faith and take hold of this gift as our precious
personal possession - by faith. Many don't realize that all you'll ever
need from the Lord - all healing, all love, all provision, all wisdom etc
is already within your spirit now. As Christians we see God as having it
all, and we see ourselves as in need of His provision. He has and we need,
so we live trying everything we can think of to get God to release His
provision, and we become frustrated. But Jesus said in Luke 17:21 that the
Kingdom of God is within you.
Your
born-again spirit is one with Him and His kingdom now. Your soul (mind,
will and emotions) touch and interact with both the spirit and the natural
realm. It has a God ordained purpose to act as a valve or bridge between
the spirit and the natural realm. This is why we need to get our mind
(soul) renewed to the Word and realize what I just said prior. We need to
develop an "I will not be denied" attitude and take time in His presence
allowing Him to minister and lead us. Personal heart-felt worship is a
major key to positioning ourselves into the sweet spot of hearing His
voice.
When
we think of faith, the Body of Christ has not actually taken hold of the
fact that our faith is not ours alone. If it is our faith then it can
waver, and be weak, this is exactly what the enemy tells believers all the
time - that they don't have enough faith or it is weak or not working at
all. The truth is the faith we now have after the cross is not ours but
His, and His faith always works and is always productive!!! Praise God -
that's a reason to shout!!!
In
Mark 11:22 Jesus said to His disciples "have faith in God." This was just
a couple of days before He went to the cross. The disciples had walked
with Jesus for nearly 3 1/2 years - did they not have faith in God???
Actually when He said this to them, it was just a couple of days before
His going to the cross. If you look at the Greek in this verse it actually
says have the faith OF God!!! The Greek word for
God "Theos" that is used in this verse is in the genitive form "Theou"
which has the meaning "of God." All throughout the New Testament Theou is
translated as "of God" except here. I believe the Bible translators just
couldn't wrap their heads around the largeness of what Jesus was saying
and allowed their personal reasoning to weaken this verse by inserting the
meaning "in God" which would lend itself more to the dative case instead
of the genative case which is actually used here.
Then
Jesus went on in the next couple of verses to explain how the “faith of
God” operates. Many spend so much time talking to God about the problem
instead of doing what Jesus said, and that is speaking TO the mountain or
obstacles is life in faith, in knowing and not presumption. See also
Isaiah 54:17 notice it says that “no weapon formed against you shall
prosper and every tongue that rises against you in judgment YOU
shall condemn for this is the heritage of the servant of the Lord and
their righteousness is from me says the Lord.” So we know God is speaking
and He said its our heritage, it's our birthright to be able to take
dominion and authority and walk in victory - but He also said we need to
condemn or come against some things.
Back
to faith - Romans 12:3 declares that each one of us has been given a
measure of faith - His faith. This word “measure” in the Greek is the word
metron and means “the standard measure.” So we
haven’t been given a varying measure of His faith, instead we’ve been
given THE Standard Measure of His faith that He
gives to all who believe. Think of it - you've got God's Standard Measure
of Faith on the inside of you now!
When Peter spoke to the
lame man at the Temple and proclaimed healing to him and lifted him to his
feet healed, whole and well, in response to the people’s amazement look at
what Peter said: Acts 3:16: “And His name, through faith in His name, has
made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith
which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness
in the presence of you all.” Don’t miss that last half of his amazing and
revealing statement that said: “Yes, the faith which comes through Him has
given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.” Notice, his
faith came THROUGH Jesus and that faith produced life and GAVE perfect
soundness.
Also
notice Hebrews 12:2 states that Jesus is the author and finisher of our
faith. The word “our” is not in the original language so it really should
read: Jesus is the author and finisher of faith (implying the faith He has
placed within us.)
What
the Body of Christ has also not taken a firm look at is
unbelief and the subtleness of this counter production tool
of the enemy that is designed to challenge the faith of God within us. It
takes on many forms and is a cancer and a poison that needs to be dealt
with constantly. I'm convinced that the Body of Christ is way too
complacent in this area, it's vile and will stop, nullify and cause our
faith to become anemic.
Look
at the story in Matthew 17:14-21 where the disciples couldn’t cast out the
demon and bring healing to the epileptic boy. After Jesus cast out the
demon, the disciples came to Jesus and asked why they weren’t able to cast
it out? Jesus simply said “because of your unbelief.” Notice He never said
anything was wrong with their faith, but there was a countering action of
unbelief that needed to be dealt with. These disciples had previously gone
all throughout the region casting out demons and bringing healing to many
with great success. But in this case they came up against a demon that
caused a great show and display of opposition throwing the child down etc.
These displays appealed to their natural reasoning and countered their
faith. They had never witnessed something so visually challenging before
and within themselves they simply did not know what to do. They came out
of faith and into the realm of reason, and their personal reasoning had no
answers.
Jesus
then told them that this “kind” comes out by prayer and fasting. The word
“kind” in the Greek is absolutely talking about this demon. And what Jesus
was saying is that prayer and fasting brings us into the presence of God
where our faith is established and fortified in knowing and becomes so
convinced of His power that it doesn't matter what earthly, natural
manifestations might say, you know that you know that the mountain must
move. This faith, His faith is not moved by what it sees or feels.
I
like Marks account of this story as it adds some additional facts. Look
what happened when Jesus went to cast out the spirit. Mark 9:25-27 -
When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He
rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "Deaf and dumb spirit, I command
you, come out of him and enter him no more!" 26
Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And
he became as one dead, so that many said, "He is dead." 27
But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
That demon tried the
very same tactic on Jesus, convulsing the child GREATLY, and notice the
boy became as one dead so that many said that he
was. BUT Jesus lifted him up and he arose. Jesus lived a lifestyle of
fasting and prayer - a lifestyle of living in the presence of the Father,
the presence of Power and the presence of Truth!
It’s
time for us to come to the place where we quit being duped by the enemy.
Healing is ours and we need to take it and move on. When sickness comes to
me, I shut things off, press in more to Him, spending quality time in His
presence worshiping and listening. I rebuke the enemy and the sickness and
profess what the Word says. I call myself healed. I am very careful with
the words of my mouth all of the time - see Proverbs 18:21. I press in
until healing manifests, and if it doesn’t seem to be working, I pray in
the Spirit and seek the wisdom of God in the matter and expect God to show
me why. If I need to make changes, I do. And healing has always come. I’ve
been through many, many battles and I’ve enjoyed many, many victories, and
I’ve got many, many testimonies. His word is true. Take His faith and
apply it in His Word. Come against the enemy using His authority and His
faith. Speak to the mountain, command it to go, and CONFRONT unbelief
every time it rises its ugly head.
Take to heart what Jesus
said about faith: Matthew 17:20 - So Jesus said to them, "Because of your
unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard
seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it
will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
Notice
the absolute language - you WILL say, and it WILL
move and NOTHING WILL IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU!!!
Oftentimes
when I tell this to people they will say: yes, I know the Word says this
but... Unbelief is established and needs to be uprooted as it is
countering the productivity of the faith of God in their lives.
This understanding has
changed the way I minister and the results are speak for themselves.
